I caught up to the 2nd day of the Online Card Class for watercolours.

The second day’s topic is using Traditional watercolours (tubes, pans, etc).

I followed the example of Dawn W. from WPlus9 (I copied her card really, except not as good as hers for my first try… ).

I used tubes of watercolour from Niji, but I found that the colours were not pure, not completely transparent.  They were actually quite opaque, because my water dish at the end looked like skim milk… but I was able to play enough with them to get the technique.  I usually like to blend my layers of watercolour, but Dawn suggested to try and leave the hard edges between the colour applications.  I loved her sample and did not notice the hard edges, but they are quite apparent on my card.  I guess I need to practice…

Here is the card I made:

Details:

Card size:  4 ½ x 6″

Stamps:  flower (repeated to cover the background) Impression Obsession H8724 Gentle Rose (Alesa Baker Designs).

Greeting:  WPlus 9 Hand Lettered Hello (stamped with Versamark ink and embossed with Stampin’Up white Embossing powder.

The flowers were stamped with Black Archival ink on Canson Watercolour Paper Cold pressed and water coloured with Niji Watercolour paints.

The card base is white Stardream card stock.  The vellum is opalescent.  The sequins are by Pretty Pink Posh.

The image was mounted to the card base with a piece of fun foam.

That’s it for now!

I am submitting this card to the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge – No Patterned paper! here:  Simon Says Wednesday Challenge.
