Happy Birthday Joseph

My son, Bobbie, and his wife Marissa, are proud Godparents to a cute little boy, Joseph, who turned one on Christmas Eve.

Marissa asked me to make a special card for him.  This is what I did…

This is the outside:

The image is a stamp by Penny Black “Let’s party” 4137K.

I coloured the image with Copic markers.

The patterned paper and the balloons I added on the image are from a 6 x 6 pad I found in my stash by Kayser Crafts called “Party Animals”.

The letters and the number one are from an Alphabet set by American Crafts.  They are sticky so I added Art Institute Glitter over them.

The Happy Birthday is by Purple Onion Designs.

The cardstocks are all Stampin’Up and I scalloped the right edge of the blue cardstock with a Stampin’Up scallop punch (I think that it is now retired…)

This had to be a special card, so I did something inside….

And this is the inside:

and here is a better view of the Pop ‘n cut:

I love doing the Pop’n cut inside my cards.  I would do one in every card if I didn’t stop myself…

I tried this new technique from Karen Burniston’s blog on doing a double Pop’n cut.  You can see the video here.

Here are the details for the inside of the card:

I used Sizzix Pop n cuts dies by Karen Burniston:

The base plate

The label insert (I cut it on a fold to double the width as explained in Karen’s video (see link above).

The stars I used are by Spellbinders and I cut them out of Sookwang tape also, to cover the stars with adhesive, then I coated them with Art Institute Fine Glitter.

I did the same to the number one that I traced and cut by hand.

The patterned papers (dots and candles) are from the same Kayser Crafts 6 x 6 ‘Party Animals” pad.

I added a blue border cut with an Impression Obsession border die DIE 017-V

The Teddy Bear is an old stamp from my collection.  I coloured it with Copic markers and cut him out completely.  He was too tall to fit in front of the label, so I folded his leg and made him sit in front of the label.  I think it turned out cuter anyway.  I cut a slit from his paw with an x-acto knife and I slid the bottom of the number one in the slit so he looks like he is holding it.

The Happy First Birthday is from a Stampin’Up Stamp set and the label shape wwas cut from a Sizzix die (movers and shapers) also by Karen.

I had lots of fun doing this card and was quite happy with it.  And Marissa and her sister loved it too!

So try the Pop n cuts!  They’re easy and they’re fun.  For more ideas, visit Karen’s blog here.

Thanks for visiting my blog.  Merci de votre visite.

  • Louise! You must send me links to your PNC creations! I rarely surf and I don’t want to miss any of them! (pout!) This is amazing!!! I’ve shared it on FB and pinned it to my boards. Did you blog the card you made for me? It needs to be seen!
