Cosmic Shimmer

I have seen a video recently on new “Cosmic Shimmer” flakes.  I loved the effect and wanted to try some.  Actually, I used a similar product many many years ago, but I guess everything old is new again… After being a stamper for 20 years, it’s nice to see old techniques coming back ….

Here is the card I made:

Card size  5 ½ x 5 ½”

The Cosmic Shimmer panel:  I use a leaf stencil (Color Box Art Screen Tropical).  Using a sponge, I applied the Cosmic Shimmer Flake and Glitter glue over the stencil on a cream Stardream card stock (shimmer).

After letting the glue dry to “tacky”, I applied the Cosmic shimmer flakes Inca Gold over the stencilled -with glue, leaves.  Then the flakes are burnished with a rough sponge (Ranger Rubit Scrubit pad).

I am quite happy with the result.  Love the shimmer!

I applied this panel on a brown shimmer card stock (DCWV paper pack), the applied this to another brown panel that has been embossed with a Stampin’Up chevron Embossing folder.  This panel is applied to a dark brown card stock, then to the card base.  The card base is pearl white Stardream (shimmer card stock).

The greeting is by Stampin’Up (Bring on the cake), stamped in Versamark ink and embossed in gold embossing powder (Filigree Fine Art powder by Stampa Rosa – no longer in business).

The greeting was cut with My Favorite Thing die (Banners).

That’s it!  The Cosmic shimmer flakes are fun to use, but a little messy, just don’t breath too hard… and turn down the air conditioning.  And don’t do this after getting a brand new manicure – you’ll have gold “tipped” fingernails. (ask me how I know LOL).

thanks for visiting my blog.  Merci de votre visite.
