Airplane card for a 90yr old

My husband asked me to make a card for him for a gentleman who is turning 90 yrs old.  This gentlemen is a very active volunteer at the same Airplane Museum where my husband volunteers.  After I made the card, Jim (my husband) told me that the plane I used is exactly the shape of the plane that this gentleman is busy rebuilding.  Apparently, he repaired them during the war… I was lucky and Jim was happy with his card.  Yeah!!!

Here is the card:

I had those 2 airplane stamps in my stash (they are very old, I don’t think that they are available to purchase anymore…).

I used the larger plane on the outside and the smaller one inside.  Both were embossed, the outside with black embossing powder and the inside, with silver embossing powder.

On the circle, I embossed clouds (PSX stamp – no longer available) with white embossing powder.  I then distressed the background with Salty ocean Distress ink.

The papers are from a little paper pad from DCWV.  I used the newpaper pattern as a background and I distressed the edge with Old Paper Distressing ink.

I created the little red border with a Stampin’Up border die cut.

The medaillon for the greeting is all by Stampin’Up.  Stamp set and matching die.  The happy Birthday was embossed with black embossing powder and the 90th was embossed with pewter embossing powder.

I distresssed the inside also with Old Paper Distress ink.  The “Happy Birthday” die cut is from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

that’s it!!!
